Funeral services for Vera L. Tiede, age 86, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Vera died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Vera Louise Tiede was born April 28, 1917, to Andrew 0. and Minnie (Reim) Larson in Mansfield Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Mansfield Lutheran Church and attended country schools. On Nov. 11, 1937, Vera was united in marriage to Harold Ernest Tiede in Northwood, Iowa. She had been a Freeborn County resident her entire life. Vera had been a member of Mansfield Lutheran Church before joining First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She had been employed at Munsingwear as a seamstress and then at Sears Roebuck in the mail order department, retiring in 1979.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty and her husband John Nowicki of Burnsville; grandchildren: John and his wife LeAnn Nowicki, and Craig and his wife Kimberly Nowicki; great-grandchildren: John R. Nowicki, Michael Nowicki, Cole Nowicki, and Kelly Nowicki; sisters: Mildred Marsh of Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center, and Charlotte Schmidthuber of Lake Mills, Iowa; brother, Garwood Larson of Lake Mills; and nieces and nephews.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; brother, Woodrow Larson; sister-in-law, Mavis Larson; and brothers-in-law: Howard Marsh and Horace Schmidthuber.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center, First Lutheran Church, or Mansfield Lutheran Church.
