Arthur Van Horn, age 78, of Wells, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at his home in Wells from complications of cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 11, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., and visitation one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery, Wells.
Art was born on Jan. 15, 1926, in Bricelyn, the son of Lee Kenton and Arlet (Newtson) Van Horn. He married Joan Cummings on Feb. 20, 1950, in Wells.
Art drove truck from coast to coast for numerous companies for 20 years. He then worked at the Wilson Meat Packing Plant in Albert Lea. After retiring from the Wilson’s,
he drove truck for B&B Pallets, Eckland Trucking in Kiester, and Wells Truss. He was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and the Local P6 United Packing House Union. Art enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and driving truck.
He is survived by five children: Pamela Wagner (special friend Bryan Barnick) of Wells, Debra Colvin (special friend Gerald Skotak) of Houston, Texas, Robert (wife Lisa) Van Horn of Faribault, Joyce Van Horn (special friend Keith Kloos) of Wells, and Nina George of Pearland, Texas;12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Allen Van Horn of Wells, and Lee Kenton Van Horn, Jr. (wife Loris) of Dassel, Minn.; five sisters: Arneta Randall of Thompson, Iowa, LaVaun Schroeder of Wells, Marlene (husband Jack) Byer of Casper, Wyo., Valeria (husband Al) Snodgrass of Casper, Wyo., and Alice (husband Wayne) LaMont of Blue Earth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2001; one son, Arthur Van Horn Jr.; sister, LeAnn Beckmann; and one granddaughter, Christine.
