Charles J. Herrmann, age 90, of Winnebago, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Parker-Oak’s in Winnebago. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 15, at the Bass Lake Community Church, rural Winnebago, with the Rev. Robert Conklin officiating. Burial will be in Bass Lake Cemetery at rural Winnebago. Visitation time will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
He was born Aug. 3, 1913, at Winnebago, the son of Alfred and Mary (Raddue) Herrmann.
He attended country school and the University of Minnesota Agricultural School. On Oct. 3, 1941, he married Alice Ripley at rural Winnebago. He farmed all of his life at rural Delavan until retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Bass Lake Community Church, Farm Bureau, and served on the Bass Lake Cemetery Association for many years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, and mowing the lawn.
He is survived by his Wife: Alice Herrmann of Winnebago; daughter, Rosemary and her husband Kyle Olson of Albert Lea; daughter, Elsie and her husband James Rivard of Fort Myers, Fla.; daughter, Helen and her husband Ray Gaddy of Marianna, Fla.; son, William “Bill” and his wife Judy Herrmann of Delavan; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Albert and his wife Bonnie Herrmann of Delavan; brother-in-law, James and his wife Sharon Ripley of Carthage, Mo.; brother-in-law, Richard and his wife Joyce Ripley of Winnebago, sister-in-law, Elizabeth and her husband Robert Lawrence of Hemphill, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Alfred Charles; and two sisters.
