Dorothy Ann Ratigan, 84, Wells

Dorothy Ann Ratigan, age 84, of Wells, died Monday, March 9, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. The Rev. Paul Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 12, with a 5 p.m. VFW prayer service, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Wells.

Dorothy Ann was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Wells, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Draeger) Mertins. She was a lifetime resident of the Wells and Matawan area. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was active in the auxiliary of the Wells VFW Post # 1778.

On Sept. 4, 1939, she married Joseph Frank Chubik in Wells. She was widowed in 1953. On Nov. 22, 1955, she married John James Ratigan at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wells. She was widowed again in 1987.

She is survived by four children: Jo Ann and husband Kenneth Jackson of Waseca, Mikette and husband Patrick Caspers of Rockford, Minn., John Jr. and wife Brenda Ratigan of Albert Lea, and Cherie and husband Joe Salisbury of Blue Earth; seven grandchildren: Abraham and wife Kathryn Jackson, Joy Houser and special friend Ron Gorski, Wayne and wife Andrea Houser, Sarah and husband Benjamin Rahe, Kelli and husband Christopher Argetsinger, Collin and wife Susan Salisbury, and Dannette Salisbury. five great-grandchildren; one brother, Gordon

and his wife Wanita Martin of Wells; one sister, Marcelene and husband Louie Mortenson of Freeborn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roy Mertins; and four sisters: Bernice Decker, Gladys Johnson, Irene Delgado and Margaret Tufte.
