Gladys T. Lund, 87, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Gladys T. Lund, age 87, of Albert Lea, were held 11 a.m., today, March 3, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating clergy were the Rev. Tammy Dahlvang of Lunder Lutheran Church and Chaplain Kent Otterman of the Good Samaritan Center.

Friends greeted the family one hour prior to the service.

Gladys T. Lund was born on Nov. 7, 1916, to Arthur and Marie (Senna) Thorpe in Underhill, Vt. She was married to Marshall T. Banks on Feb. 14, 1937, in Northwood, Iowa. To this union two children were born:

Sandra Marie Banks and David Marshall Banks.

Marshall died suddenly on Dec. 19, 1955. On Aug. 27, 1973, she was married to Trevor C. Lund in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Trevor died on Dec. 2, 1981.

She was a member of Lunder Lutheran Church and the Albert Lea Senior Citizen’s Center.

Gladys died at her home on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra and her husband Chuck Stephens of Albert Lea; her son, David Banks, of Las Vegas, Nev.; four granddaughters: Valerie Washington of Grasston, Minn., Melanie Jacobson, of Albert Lea, Jodi Banks of Las Vegas, Nev., and Monica Banks of Mesa, Ariz.; 12 great-grandchildren: Tiffini, Elliott, Alexander, Mariah, and Matthew Washington of Grasston, Minn., Chelsea and Ashley Jacobson of Albert Lea, and Nicole, Christopher, Megan, Tyler and Amy Banks of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Grace Kogler of Burlington, Vt.; one sister-in-law, Sylvia Van Ryswyk of Albert Lea; one brother-in-law, Dennis Bank of Hayward; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Marshall Banks and Trevor Lund; her three brothers: George Thorpe, Arnold Thorpe and Allan Thorpe; and her three sisters: Helen Sinclair, Beulah Rayman and Ruth Ritchie.
