Memorial services for Leland A. “Pete” Hoyt, age 80, of Albert Lea will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Clarks Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County Veteran’s organizations. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at Bayview.
Leland died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea.
Leland Almond Hoyt was born April 18, 1923, to William Henry and Clara (Leidal) Hoyt in Albert Lea. He grew up and went to school in Albert Lea. On June 26, 1943, Pete was united in marriage to LaVella M. Bolinger in Albert Lea. He served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1951. After his discharge from the service, Pete worked as a mechanic at the Chevrolet Garage and then at Wilson’s. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Grace Lutheran Church. Pete especially loved cars and his dogs.
Survivors include his children: Ronald and wife Jackie Hoyt, Bonnie and husband David Jensen, Larry and wife Barb Hoyt, and Julieanne and husband Bryan Gullickson; grandchildren: Scott and his wife Tammy Hoyt, Cory Hoyt, Shelley and husband John Doran, Larry and wife Kathleen Jensen, Sherry and husband Matt McCartney, Ryan Jensen and fianc Megan Olson, Shawn and husband Fermin Sanchez, Kelly Classon, Chad Hoyt, and Jennifer and her husband Robert Wondra; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by his wife, LaVella; his son, Richard Hoyt; his parents; and brothers.
