Panther boys take third at conference indoor meet

MANKATO &045; They’re still a little low on numbers, but the NRHEG Panthers finished in the upper half of the boys’ division in the Gopher Conference Indoor Track and Field Meet at Minnesota State-Mankato Friday.

USC/AC was first with 130.5 points, followed by WEM with 115.5, NRHEG 89, Blooming Prairie 55, Medford 46, JWP 45 and Mankato Loyola 44.

The Panthers had two individual firsts. Brian Bos won the 800 meters in 2:13.7 and Geoff Stieglebauer took the triple jump at 38-4. Bos, John Coffield, Matt Reiter and Tim Rysavy teamed for first in the 4×800 relay, nearly breaking the school record with a time of 9:00.

Taking second for NRHEG were Reiter, 3200, 11:44; Coffield, 1600, 5:05; and the sprint medley relay team of Brandon Deml, Krey Cory, John Theuer and Rysavy, which clocked 4:20.1.

Sonny Berg took third in three events, the 55 dash, 55 intermediate hurdles and 200. He was fourth in the long jump.

Nick Beatty finished sixth in the 3200, as did Tom Bartness in the 400 and Rysavy in the triple jump.
