Philip E. Lorenz, 69, Alden

Philip E. Lorenz, age 69, of Alden, formerly of Freeborn, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center, from complications of emphysema.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday with a rosary service at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in

St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery, Wells.

Philip was born on June 19, 1934, in Clark, S.D., the son of E. Eugene and Ida (Curtice) Lorenz. He attended grade school in Clark, S.D. He married Jeanette Stenzel on Nov. 13, 1957, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. Philip was a former member of the Freeborn Fire Department. He worked for the Huntting Elevator in Freeborn from 1961 to 1974. He then worked for the State of Minnesota Highway Department from 1974, retiring in 1996 after 22 years of service. He really enjoyed all his grandchildren, and loved telling them stories. Philip also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels; and his horse. &uot;Candy.&uot;

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Lorenz of Alden; three daughters:

Patti and her husband Randy Bangert of Alden, Joanie and her husband Pat Stenzel of Wells, and Deb and her husband Darrell Riemer of Conger; nine grandchildren: Shanna Bangert and her fiance Adam Drescher, Josh, Ryan and Alyssa Bangert, Erin

Yokiel, Kendall, Hillary and Nathan Stenzel, and Lorna Riemer; three brothers: James and his wife Adeline Lorenz of Wells, Ted and his wife Shirley Lorenz of Brookings, S.D., and Don and his wife Angie

Lorenz of Clark, S.D.; four sisters: Margaret Fister of Watertown, S.D.,

Frances Riter of Rapid City, S.D., Evelyn and her husband Robert Stenzel of Wells, and Wilma and her husband John Buittner of Watertown, S.D.; one brother-in-law, Lawrence and his wife Mary Stenzel of Decatur, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; several uncles and aunts; and three brothers-in-law: Florian Stenzel, Harold Riter and Milo Fister.
