Progress pleases coach of A-C B-squad girls

ALDEN &045; Although his team finished with a 4-15 record in his first year as B-squad girls’ basketball coach at Alden-Conger, Tom Jones was pleased with the improvement he saw throughout the season with his eight-member squad.

“I’m not measuring this team’s success with wins and losses, but in seeing how much better each player got and how much better of a team we were at the end of the season,&uot; said Jones.

The season had many highlights. The first was one of two meetings with Glenville-Emmons, which resulted in the first-win ever for the ninth-graders on the team. In their second meeting, sophomore point guard Dani Jensen poured in 36 points en route to a second victory over the Wolverines.

A 36-31 win over Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, a game that saw sophomore center Emily Appel score 25 points while grabbing nine rebounds and blocking nine shots, was another season highlight.

The last was a 44-31 victory over Grand Meadow on parents night.

“We took care of things on both the offense and defensive sides of the court that night,&uot; said Jones. &uot;It was a fun night.&uot;
