Mary C. Dahlm, 85, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Mary C. Dahl of Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at the First Lutheran Church Chapel in Albert Lea.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.

Mrs. Dahl died Friday morning at St. Johns Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, she was 85 years of age.

Mary was born February 28, 1919 in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Levi and Laura (Kolste) Tuttle. After her birth the family moved to Albert Lea where Mary attended public school. Mary was united in marriage to Clifford T. Dahl on January 17, 1938 at the First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea.

Mary worked for five years at the Wilson Co. and then at the Home Cafe which her mother and father owned. At age 25 she bought the South Broadway Restaurant and on July 29, 1944 it became Ma’s Cafe. She owned and operated the cafe for 35 years closing the doors on August 19, 1979.

Mary was an active member of the First Lutheran Church and was a part of the First Lutheran Church Women. Mary always enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her children Allan and his wife Lois Dahl of Albert Lea, Dennis and his wife Mali Dahl of Las Vegas, Nev. Grandchildren Jeff Dahl of Albert Lea,

Linda and Brian Knudsen of Alden, Troy Dahl of Albert Lea, Derek and Julie Sager of Albert Lea, Denise Register of Lake Mills, Iowa, Darcy and Donald Gilster of Albert Lea, Great grandchildren Jenna, Adam, Michael, Cody, Heather, Levi, Jenna, Alyssa, Mathew, Dillon, Devan, Cassandra and Seth. Sisters Marjorie Kenevan of Beaver Dam, Wis., Maxine Thompson of Farmington, Sister in law Marcella Dahl of Rochester.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband Clifford in 1979.

The family would like to thank the nurses, nurses aids and staff at St. John’s Lutheran Home, especially the staff on 1st south for the

loving, compassionate care they gave to our mother and grandmother.
