Robert Guy Taylor was born April 18, 1907, the second of five children to William and Isabell (Guy) Taylor in Moscow Township. He attended country school and Austin High School for two years. On Feb. 27, 1935, Robert was united in marriage to Elizabeth Guttormson in Somers, Iowa, by his uncle Samuel Wallace. The couple farmed in Moscow Township on the farm that his grandfather had purchased in 1878. Robert was a member of the school board of District 30 Joint for many years before the family moved to Albert Lea in 1964. He worked at Streater’s and later owned and operated the Water Street Meat Market. Robert liked working on his cars and tractors and did all his own mechanical work when needed. He enjoyed fishing and, as long as he was able, he never missed going deer hunting in northern Minnesota. Robert also enjoyed visiting with his farmer neighbors about the crops or anything relating to farming.
