Roy Albert Drommerhausen, 87, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Roy A. Drommerhausen, age 87, of St. John’s, formerly of 229 Willamor Road, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Roy died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Roy Albert Drommerhausen was born Jan. 20, 1917, to Albert and Gertrude (Johnson) Drommerhausen in Albert Lea. He was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea and a graduate of Albert Lea High School. Roy was united in marriage to Nellberta “Nelly” Gunderson in 1938. He owned and operated The Palm Garden and Roy’s Liquor Store. After retiring, Roy worked at OK Hardware in the Skyline Mall. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, a life member of the Elks Lodge, and the last surviving charter member of the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his son, Jerald R. and his wife Judith Drommerhausen of Elgin, Ill.; his daughter, Judith Sprenger of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Kathy A. Drommerhausen of Seattle, Wash., Michael N. Drommerhausen of Chicago, Ill., and Daniel and his wife Felicia Drommerhausen of St. Charles, Ill.; sisters: Hazel Krueger of Albert Lea, and Darlene Britson of Racine, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nelly; sisters: Roselyn and her husband Warren Pestorious, and Margaret and her husband Harry Krueger; and brothers-in-law: Clarence Krueger, and Herbert Britson.
