FARIBAULT &045; In some ways, it was a better day for the Albert Lea High School softball team.
But it was still a tough day.
The Tigers improved from their previous outing but came home from Faribault still looking for their first win of the season after dropping a doubleheader 4-3 and 3-0 Friday.
Game one was particularly tough to take as Faribault tied it with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and won it in the seventh.
Jerri Mondeel was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Tigers, Jenna Brackey 2-for-3. Katie Brackey, Ashley Helgerson and Heather Stegenga had one hit apiece.
Jenna Brackey pitched all 6 1/3 innings, giving up seven hits and one walk, with four strikeouts.
Mondeel was 2-for-3 in game two. Getting one hit each were Katie Brackey, Helgerson, Emily Reed and Jenna Brackey.
Nicole Rafdal pitched, allowing 11 hits and one walk in six innings. She struck out three.
&uot;Our defense was much improved,&uot; said Tigers coach Rick Harves. &uot;We’re hitting the ball much better, but unfortunately it was right at people. You have to give Faribault credit. They put the ball in play almost every time.&uot;
The Tigers, 0-4, play at Rochester Mayo Thursday.
