A Nissan pick-up and a Chevy Geo Metro collided on County Road 46 at about 6:15 p.m. last night, requiring three be airlifted to Rochester’s Mayo Clinic, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s office.
The pick-up, driven by Mark Lovell, 41, of Northfield, was headed south on County Road 30 and the Metro, driven by Omar Jauregui, 21, of Austin, was east-bound on County Road 46.
The collision occurred near Oakland and injured Trisha Rose, 22, and her daughter, Zoe, 1, both passengers. All three were airlifted to Mayo Clinic, where the parents were taken into surgery. They were in stable condition this morning.
Their daughter was still in critical condition.
Another infant, Cloe Jauregui, 1, was treated and released.
The pick-up had to be forced open by the Jaws of Life to save Lovell. He was transported to the Albert Lea Medical Center and is in stable condition. No skid marks appeared at the scene.
The accident is being reconstructed by the State Highway Patrol today to identify point of impact and vehicle speeds.
