Alice Obedia Underland, 91, Owatonna

The Funeral Service for Alice O. Underland, of Cedarview Care Center in Owatonna, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at the Moscow Lutheran Church, rural Austin.

The Rev. LaDonna Ekern will officiate. Burial will be in Moscow

Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Alice died on Friday morning, May 28, 2004 at the Cedarview Care Center. She was 91.

Alice was born on February 4, 1913, in Austin, to Albert and Amanda (Gunderson) Gullickson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Alice grew up and attended school in the Moscow area. She was united in marriage to Elmer Underland on March 31, 1932, in the Lutheran Church in Northwood, Iowa. After marriage they lived on a farm in the Hollandale area for

one year, then moved to rural Ellendale were they farmed until 1958, when they retired and moved to Ellendale. In August of 1990, Alice moved to Cedarview Care Center in Owatonna.

She was a past member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, rural Ellendale, where she had been a Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. As an adult and mother, Alice took a correspondence course and got her high school diploma. She enjoyed reading, bowling, stamp collecting and genealogy.

She is survived by her four children: Aldeen Underland and his wife Ingrid of Blaine, Gary Underland and his wife Barbara of rural Medford, Carol and her husband Laverne Roberts of Albert Lea, Paul Underland and his wife Kathy of Owatonna and a daughter-in-law Darlene Underland of Ellendale.

Also 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, sisters Grace Miller of Austin, Rose Collier of Monroe, La., sisters-in-law Lorraine Gullickson and Loraine Gullickson both of Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer in 1984, son Richard Underland in 1996, sister Violet Smith, four brothers: Perry, Herbert, Grant and Warren Gullickson.

Alice was a very family orientated person, living her life in a Christian way.
