Bertha Olive Nelson, age 86, of Roseville, formerly of Austin, died May 13, 2004, at Eagle Crest Assisted Living in Roseville.

Bertha was born Dec. 2, 1917, to Arent and Petra (Holm) Rake in Rake, Iowa, where she attended schools. Bertha was employed In Albert Lea and married Nels Nelson on July 5, 1947, in Hayward. They lived for a short time in Albert Lea and most of their married life in Austin. They belonged to Grace Lutheran Church. She was involved in church groups and enjoyed cooking, baking, bible study, singing hymns and dancing. Bertha and Nels moved to Roseville in September of 2002. Nels died on Oct. 20, 2003.

Survivors Include son, Perry (Helen) Nelson of Shoreview; three grandchildren, Ryan Nelson and fiancee, Tara Rae, Sara Nelson and Scott Nelson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nels; siblings, Amanda, Eliza, Elmer, Inez &uot;Sally,&uot; Myrtle &uot;Mickey,&uot; Alma and infant Gladys.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 17, at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial is at Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements. The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
