Emma M. Schrader, 93, Wells

Emma M. Schrader, age 93, of Wells, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Parker Oaks Retirement Community in Winnebago.

Funeral services will be 10:30 p.m. Monday, May 17, at the Parker Oaks Retirement Community in Winnebago. The Rev. Glenn Korb will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 16, and one hour prior to services on Monday at Parker Oaks Center. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.

Emma was born on Sept. 22, 1910, in Walnut Lake Township, Faribault County, the daughter of Anthony and Sophia (Hadlick) Hefner. Emma attended country school. On Jan. 17, 1928, she was united in marriage to Roy Schrader in Mankato. She worked with her husband on the family farm in the Easton area. The couple moved into Wells in 1963. She was a cook at the Wells Hospital for several years.

Emma was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a former member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Easton and it s mission circles. She was member of Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wells and LWML (Lutheran Women s Missionary League). Emma enjoyed making quilts, playing cards, gardening and especially enjoyed being with her family.

She is survived by four sons: Lawrence (and wife Ramona) Schrader of Easton, Arnold (and wife Marlene) Schrader of Wells, Ronald (and wife Sandra) Schrader of Topsham, Maine, and Douglas (and wife Joyce) Lembke of Minnesota Lake; three daughters: Yvonne (husband Kenneth) Walker of Wells, Sandra (husband Michael) Hall of Minnetonka, and Marylou (husband Gregory) Alger of Wells; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo (wife Olive) Hefner of Albert Lea; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; one daughter, Florence Hassing; four grandchildren; three brothers; and five sisters.
