Henry L. Ladlie, 93, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Henry L. Ladlie, age 93, of Albert Lea will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at the First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Henry died Monday, May 17, 2004, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.
Henry LeRoy Ladlie was born in Rippey, Iowa, on March 20, 1911. In 1914, his family moved to a farm outside of Clarks Grove, where he was raised and attended Barlow School. Henry married Myrna Yocum on Nov. 23, 1938, in Albert Lea. After farming near New Richland, they moved to Albert Lea where he worked for the County Highway Department until he retired in 1984. Henry has belonged to the First Presbyterian Church since 1952.
Over 50 years ago, Henry and Myrna became involved with a concerned group of parents in Albert Lea who fought to create a better life for their children with developmental disabilities. Henry signed the Arc articles of incorporation and has been a member ever since.
Survivors include his wife, Myrna Ladlie of Albert Lea; his sons: Phillip Ladlie of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Curtis Ladlie of Albert Lea; as well as four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and two sisters.
