Kenneth Ilert Morreim, 79, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Kenneth 1. Morreim, age 79, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Veteran’s organizations. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a Scripture Rosary service at 7:30 p.m., at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the Church.

Kenneth died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Kenneth Ilert Morreim was born Sept. 3, 1924, to Otto Knute and Nina Naomi (Bickford) Morreim in Albert Lea. He was a lifelong resident and had attended Northside Elementary and Albert Lea Junior High Schools. On Feb. 4, 1947, Kenneth was united in marriage to Sara Yvonne “Bonnie” Balbach at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newry Township. He was employed as an engineer at Wilsons. Kenneth was a member of St. Theodore’s Catholic Church, American Legion, VFW, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, hunting, bowling, camping, woodworking, farming, and his daily walks with his brother, Mert.

Survivors include daughters: Lynda Baseman, Rebecca and her husband Dennis Boone, Theresa and her husband Loren Kaiser, all of Albert Lea, and Norma and her husband Jay Corbin of Wells; son, Michael Morreim of Virginia Beach, Va.; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Merton of Albert Lea; sister, Norma Hensche of Alden; sisters-in-law: Darlene Morreim of Minnesota Lake, Theresa Jackson of Albert Lea, and Kathleen and her husband Roland Knox of Rochester; brothers-in-law: Donald and his wife Kathy Balbach of New Ulm, Jerry and his wife Sharon Balbach of Spring Valley, and Kenneth and his wife Donna Peterson of Canton; and many other wonderful relatives and friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie; son, Kenneth Otto; brother, Marvin Morreim; son-in-law, Duaine Baseman; great-grandchildren: Ciarra Rose and Duaine Jacob “DJ” Baseman; father- and mother-in-law, Ernest and Sarah Balbach; brothers-in-law: Jesse Jackson and Arnold Hensche; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Peterson.
