Ophelia L. Munson, 92, Rochester

Ophelia L. Munson, age 92, of Rochester, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the Stewartville Care Center where she had resided since January of this year.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stewartville. The Rev. Lyle Fritsch will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Griffin-Gray Funeral Home, Stewartville, and at the church one hour before services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Stewartville.
Ophelia L. Podolske was born Oct. 27, 1911, in Rochester. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester. She married Lloyd M. Munson on Feb. 212. 1937.
After their marriage the couple farmed at rural Racine, Minn., for 26 years. They then moved to Rochester. She was employed at St. Marys Hospital and for 26 years she was employed at F.W. Woolworth in Rochester until retiring in 1976. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church
in Stewartville. She enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, word searchbooks and baking.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlene (Stanley) Kukuzke of Albert Lea; two grandsons: Michael (Lisa) Kukuzke of Champlin, Minn., and Mark (Tonya) Kukuzke of Fairfield , Iowa, six great-grandchildren: Jason, Aaron, Ryan, Danielle, Ashley and Chase, two sisters-in-law: Vina Podolske and Allene Behnken; and several nieces and nephews.
She worshipped her two grandsons ad great-grandchildren, always baking cookies and cooking the great-grandchildren their favorite meals for their birthdays.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 16, 1983; two brothers: Elmer and Walter Podolske; and Godchild and niece, Jineen Bundy.
