Arthur Paul Venne, 82, Bricelyn

Arthur Paul Venne, age 82, of Bricelyn died on Friday, June 25, 2004 at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, at Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. Officiating clergy will be Reverend Ed Nieman and Reverend Pat Hinkie. Visitation will be held at Bruss – Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial will be held at Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery with Military Honors by Bricelyn American Legion Post.

Arthur was born on January 8, 1922 in Virginia, Minn., the son of Delor and Emma (Windhauser) Venne. He graduated from Virginia High School and St. Cloud State University with a B.S. in Education. He also received his Master’s degree from Mankato State University. After graduating he worked for Remington Rand in Minneapolis and Duluth. He served in the U.S. Army as an Army Medic during World War II, stationed in Coventry, England. After the war, he was stationed at Camp Butner In North Carolina until January, 1946. He married Maxine Johnson in August, 1948 to which two children were born, Thomas and Michele. She died January 17,1953. He married Orpha Rosedahl on June 3,1956 and they had three children Sharon, David and Kristen. Arthur was a teacher and taught In Rector, Minn., moving to Bricelyn in 1953 where he taught school until 1985. He coached football and track and kept score for basketball games. He also taught driver’s training. He served as Athletic Director, was Border League Conference secretary for 26 years. He served as commander of the Bricelyn American Legion Post, was a member of Bricelyn Lutheran Church where he had served as treasurer and president. He enjoyed teaching, camping, the outdoors, sports, his grandchildren, playing cards and telling jokes.

He is survived by his wife Orpha Venue of Bricelyn, children Tom and wife Saundrah Venne of Montgomery, Ala., Mickie Krause and husband Mike Riley of Manassas, Va., Sharon Venne of Apple Valley, David Venne and wife Tracy Stueve of Manassas, Va.,Kristen and husband John Gushwa of Chanhassen; eight grandchildren, Amber and husband Shawn Riley, Autumn Venne, Eric and wife Jillian Krause, Adam Krause, Michelle Venue, Alan Krause and fianc Falon Twitchell, Martin Venne, Mychael Venne; five great-grandchildren, Nicolette Venne, Tyler Riley, Sydney Riley, Kassidy Riley, Destiny Venue; five brothers, Clifford and wife Viola, Ernest and wife Carol, Bernard, Edmund and wife Cathy, Stanley and wife Mary Kay; one sister-in-law Anne Moldestad and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Maxine, brothers Didace, Clayton and Elmer; sisters-in-law Caroline, Margaret and Illa; and son-in-law Dave Krause.
