Arvilla B. Drake, age 82, of Bricelyn, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. The Rev. Patricia Hinkie and Rev. Edward Nieman will officiate. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 25, and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in Seely Township, Faribault County.

She was born

March 15, 1922, in Winnebago County, Iowa, the daughter of

Bernt and Anna (Herem) Gullord. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, Iowa.

On June 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to Roger Drake at the United Methodist Church in Wells.

They moved to Bricelyn in 1949.

Arvilla was a member of Bricelyn Lutheran Church and the WELCA.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, baking and reading.

Arvilla is survived by her husband, Roger of Bricelyn; two daughters:

Verlie (husband Gerald) Kaupa of Plymouth, Minn., and Betti (husband Ron) Goemann of Urbandale, Iowa; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Phillip (wife Louann) Kaupa and their children, Kristina, Jonathan and Daniel, of Owatonna, Julie Kaupa of St. Paul, Ryan (wife Jeni) Goemann and their children, Riley and Jace, of Clive, Iowa, Jeff (wife Jenny) Goemann of Ankeny, Iowa, and Michelle (husband Paul) Whitney and their children, Derrick, Dylan and Micaela, of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Bernice Satre of Albert Lea; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister,

Doris Ryg; and two brothers: Clarence and Archie Gullord.
