A memorial service for Bernette C. Nelson, age 96, of Austin, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at Mona Lutheran Church, Mona, Iowa. The Rev. Lydia Mittag will officiate. Inurnment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona. The family will greet friends at the church following the memorial service.

She died Monday, May 31, 2004, at the Mayo Medical Center, Austin.

Bernette was born Dec. 30, 1907, the daughter of Gilbert and Mabel (Naversath ) Nelson. She married Ernest C. Nelson on Nov. 21, 1928.

She lived in Albert Lea most of her life until moving to Austin in 1978.

Survivors include her children: Erling B. Nelson (Dorothy &uot;Lyn&uot;), Gary F. Nelson (Sharon), and Cleo M. (Nelson) Christenson; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, one brother, and one son-in-law.

Memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
