Edward ‘Pinky’ Eugene Carlson, 76, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Edward “Pinky” Eugene Carlson will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at St. John’s Lutheran Home Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Pinky died on Sunday, June 13, 2004, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea where he had lived for the past year. He was 76 years old.

Pinky was born in Moscow on April 16, 1928, the son on Alfred and Mamie (Wyant) Carlson.

Pinky was raised in Freeborn County. He had worked for Ray Hemmingway Sr., and Harvey Brua for several years and part time for Ole Brua working on race cars. He moved to Brainerd and worked for Tom Baker before returning to Albert Lea.

Pinky was a handyman and liked to fix things. He enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time with his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease.

Pinky is survived by one son, Edward Carlson Jr. of Albert Lea; three daughters: Donna (Bob) McClelland of Joice, Iowa, Shirley (Mark) Behrends of Albert Lea, and Debra (Dan) Shaw of Hartland; six grandchildren: Ranie Peterson of Las Vegas, Nev., Curtis Wyant, Tamera Wyant, and Stacy (John) Judd of Albert Lea, Anissa Carlson of Albert Lea, and Daniel Shaw Jr. of Hartland; 14 great-grandchildren; two step daughters: Vicki Schultz of Albert Lea, and Renae (Lee) Zuniga of Hollandale; six step grandchildren: Jeremy Olson, Nicholas Olson, Melany Olson, and Cody Johnson, all of Albert Lea, and Veronika Zuniga and Tom Zuniga of Hollandale; two brothers: Alvin (Eva) Carlson of Albert Lea, and Bruce (Doloris) Bickford of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters: Rosella (Gerald) Gleason of Albert Lea, and Gladys Hestness of Rosemount, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren: Felica Godtland and Gary Allen Wyant; four brothers: Leo, Alfred, Floyd and Robert Carlson; and brother-in-law, Virgil Hestness.

Pinky will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Blessed be his memory.
