Funeral services for Glenn E. Hall, age 85, of Kissimmee, Fla., formerly of Albert Lea, will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. David Hernes will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Veteran’s Organizations. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at Bayview.
Glenn died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at his home in Kissimmee, Fla.
Glenn Everett Hall was born April 19, 1919, to Walter and Pearl Estelle (Cooper) Hall in Albert Lea. As a teenager, he joined the CC Camp that President Roosevelt established after the “1929 Crash” to provide jobs. They constructed buildings in state parks and other facilities. Glenn was a member of the United States Coast Guard for seven years. He served on the USS Wakefield that transported thousands of Canadian soldiers to England before the start of World War II. On August 10, 1947, Glenn was united in marriage to Ruth Yaekle. He was a switchman for the M & St. L. Railroad for 21 years before retiring at age 65.
Survivors include his sister, Marion Grasdalen of Albert Lea; and nieces: Julie and her husband Kent Jasperson of Albert Lea, and Mary Dunker of Des Moines, Iowa.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Maynard; sister, Arline Johnson; and nieces and nephews.
