Mary L. Greenwood, 80, New Richland

Memorial services for Mary L. Greenwood, of New Richland, will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 11, at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland. The Rev. Philip Lewison will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded by the New Richland American Legion and Auxiliary.

Mrs. Greenwood died Tuesday evening at the New Richland Care Center. She was 80 years of age.

Mary was born Aug. 24, 1923, in New Richland, the daughter of George and Ethel (Cates) Bell. She was a graduate of New Richland High School. Mary was united in marriage to Oswald Greenwood on Dec. 27, 1948.

Mary lived her life in New Richland and had been a member of the Congregational church. She had been employed by the E.F. Johnson Co. in Waseca, and at Quirum’s Bakery in New Richland.

Mary served her country in the U.S. Army as a nurse and spent time overseas. She was a very active member of the New Richland American Legion and Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, cards gardening and bowling. She also enjoyed the company of her family and many friends.

Mary is survived by her children: Dennis (Jean) Greenwood of New Richland, Charryl Berger of Santa Fe, N.M., and Brian Greenwood of New Richland; grandchildren: Cassie, Shawna, Scott, Jodie and Taylor; great-grandchildren: Lindsay, William, Braedon and Jackson; and brothers: Lowell (Joyce) Bell of Golden Valley, Minn., Bill (Paula) Bell of Hackensack, Minn., and Bruce (Mary) Bell of Wilmington, Ill.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oswald; sisters: Elsie, Hazel, Frances and Marjorie; and brothers: Harry and Clifford.
