Myron Willard Linn, 78, Alden

Funeral services for Myron W. Linn, age 78, of Alden, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24,
at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home In Albert Lea. Rev. Marcia Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, will officiate. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bayview, and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Radcliffe Cemetery in Radcliffe, Iowa, with Military Honors.
Myron died Monday, June 21, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Myron Willard Linn was born Aug. 4, 1925, the son of Henry and Amy (Amundson) Linn on the farm in rural Radcliffe, Iowa. He grew up and attended Concord Country Elementary School in Radcliffe and graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1942. After graduation, he farmed for a few years and then enlisted in the Navy at Fort Snelling in 1945. Myron trained at Great Lakes, Ill., Shoemaker, Calif., and Treasure Island, Calif. On May 20, 1945, he left California for the Pacific. The first battle was under Admiral Halsey’s Third Fleet on the USS De Haven DD 727 and the USS Rogers DD 876 1st Division Deck Force in Japan from September 1945 until December 1945. He also served in Pearl Harbor, Caroline Islands, Okinawa, Philippine Islands, Maoto, and O-shima. He was honorably discharged July 8, 1946.
On Nov. 15, 1949, Myron was united in marriage to Doris Feldhoff at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They farmed in Radcliffe until moving to Albert Lea in 1958, where he worked for Queens and then Streater’s.
In 1968, they bought a farm by Alden and started farming while still working at Streaters for 30 years. In September 1970 he lost his wife to cancer. On June 9, 1973, Myron was united in marriage to Mildred (Milly) Hanson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Myron loved farming, and after his retirement they loved to go fishing and camping. He enjoyed reading and watching game shows. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, Iowa, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. He was a member of the Albert Lea VFW and American Legion Post #56 in Albert Lea. He will be greatly missed by all.
Myron is survived by his wife, Milly Linn of Alden; four children: Mark Linn of Napa Valley, Calif., Jeff Linn of Alden, David Linn and his wife Rhonda of Alden, and Karen Jacobs and her husband Lee of Alden; two step children: Jerry Jarman of Albert Lea and Vickie McFarland of Oklahoma; three sisters: Lois Vickre, Mavis Leerberg, and Phyllis Johnson, all of Story City, Iowa; one brother, Howard Linn and his wife Betty of Hubbard, Iowa; 12 grandchildren: Michelle Linn, Nicole Linn and Mark Anthony Linn of Napa Valley, Calif., Shawn Linn and wife Jane of Alden, Jeremy Linn and wife Tricia of Alden, Amy Hart and husband Kemlin of Conger, Jamie Linn and special friend Jen of Rochester, Mindy Linn and fianc Josh Allsop of Florida, Kary Jacobs and fianc Justin Reicherts of Albert Lea, and Matthew Jacobs and special friend Bobbi of Alden; two step grandchildren, Amanda and Mark MaFarland of Oklahoma; and five great-grandchildren: Renae Linn of Alden, Megan Linn of Alden, Logan Reicherts of Albert Lea, Makenna Jacobs of Alden, and Dominic Linn of Napa Valley, Calif.
Myron is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Amy Linn; first wife, Doris, in 1970; infant son, Michael Gary in 1950; daughter, Sharon Kay Meuser in 1998; sister, Kernie Fletcher; brother, Donald Linn; and many others.
