Marvin Thompson joined his wife, Joyce, in eternal life with Christ on June 3, 2004. His ministry included serving Christian & Missionary Alliance Churches in Maple Plain, Fresno, Calif., Tyler, Osage, Iowa, Superior, Wis., Janesville, Wis., and Zion, Ill. A graduate of St. Paul Bible College, he was Director of Public Relations for his alma mater, renamed Crown College, until his retirement. His ministry continued after retirement in Navarre, and Dallas, Texas, where he readily accepted opportunities to preach the Bible. He remained committed to his calling and his denomination through various committees and conferences, and a weekly e-mail ministry called “Sunday Thoughts” to a long list of friends and family. His life ended peacefully in the home of his son, Ken and wife Mary, in Sperryville, Va.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; brothers Albert, Carl, Leonard, and sisters Anna and Belle. His memory of scripture and details of history, his humor, and spiritual guidance will be greatly missed by his children and their families: Marolyn (Mrs. Vernoy) Johnson; Keith Thompson; Karen (Mrs. Toby) Spessard; Ken and Mary Thompson; and Marlys (Mrs. Dennis) Wickstrom; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services are being held in Dallas at Suggs Mortuary, followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
