Funeral services for Beatrice V. Winjum, age 91, of Albert Lea will be held

11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. The Rev. Linda Gunderson will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Beatrice died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center where she had resided since 1999.

Beatrice Vivian Winjum was born Jan. 1, 1913, in Albert Lea to Theodore and Oline (Wangen) Bell. She spent her early childhood in Trinity, Texas, and in 1926 returned to Freeborn County with her family. Beatrice graduated from Albert Lea High School and attended business college in Minneapolis. She was married to Arthur C. Winjum and the couple resided on a farm north of Albert Lea where they raised their five children. In addition to being a homemaker, Beatrice worked for many years at the Good Samaritan Center where she was well respected by both staff and residents.

After her retirement, she continued to serve as a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center and for SEMCAC. Beatrice enjoyed traveling with friends and always made time for her grandchildren. She was a member of Freeborn County Home Extension and Central Freeborn Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her children – sons: Thomas and his wife Cecilia of Albert Lea and Arthur of New Richland; and daughters: Sharon and her husband Bruce Ulland of Austin, and Elaine and her husband Ray King of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Rita Peterson and Peggy Benson of Albert Lea, Kelli Evenson and Tim Ulland of Austin, Grace Johnson of Spring Valley, and Randy Ulland, Stuart King, and Sara Bolier of Minneapolis; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters: Edith Meyer of Pomeroy, Iowa, and Maurine Turvold of the Good Samaritan Center; and brother, Henry Bell of Kasson.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; son, Ted; brothers: Joseph, Clifford, Kenneth, and Theodore Bell; and sisters: Gladys Sandvold, Gertrude Foley, Anna Root, Olive Eastvold, and Cecilia and Thelma in childhood.
