Cyrus ‘Cy’ Lindell, 82, Vasa, Minn.

Cyrus Arthur Lindell, age 82, of Vasa, Minn., died on Sunday evening, July 25, 2004, at his residence.

Cyrus was born on Feb. 13, 1922, in Vasa Township, the son of Arthur and Ella (Johnson) Lindell. He was raised in Vasa and completed eighth grade in school district 144. He was baptized and confirmed at Vasa Lutheran Church. He was an active church member and served on the cemetery board.

He married Lillian Hanson on Dec. 18, 1943. Cy farmed in the Vasa area. After his retirement, he worked at Peterson Turkey Hatchery in Cannon Falls. He enjoyed playing accordion and entertaining his family at family gatherings.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; son, Michael Cyrus Lindell; grandson, Chad Jeffrey; parents: Arthur and Ella Lindell; brothers: Vernon and Kenneth; and sisters: Blanche Lundell, Eunice Anderson, Leona Duncan, Marie Young and Venice Lindell.

He is survived by five children: Alan ( Louise) of Vasa, Becky (Walter) Johnson of Glenville, Steven (Cheryl) of St. James, Jeffrey (Mary) of Cannon Falls, and Janelle (John) Wenzel of Newalla, Okla.; 19 grandchildren: Wendy (Daniel) Liudahl, Kim (Earl) Tribbit, Lynee (Jerome) McConnell, DeAnn (Chad) Turner, Scott (Lori) Lindell, Sandy (Dennis) Doehling, Bonnie (Jason) Pagel, Joanne Lindell (fiancee Dave Weber), Barbara Lindell, (friend Chris Weigman), Marc Johnson, Brian (Sarah) Johnson, Krista Johnson (fianc Matt Williamson), Heidi (Mike) Steuber, Alicia (Josh) Milow, Cassie (Chad) Wiens, Karrie (Dan) Kuhn, Nora Lindell (friend T.J. Nordling), and Adam and Taylor Wenzel; 27 great-grandchildren.; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Hedstrom, sister-in-law, Helen Lindell; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at Vasa Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Dobbins officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the church.

Active pallbearers will be Curtis Hedstrom, Clair Duncan, Dale Lundell, Roy Lindell, Dean Anderson, and Kermit Young. Grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
