Harry Obermeyer, age 99, of Bricelyn, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, July 20, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. The Rev. Dick Steffen will officiate. Visitation was held at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to services today at the church. Interment will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Kiester.

Harry was born on June 1,1905, in Kiester Township, Faribault County, the son of Conrad and Bertha (Scherb) Obermeyer. He was confirmed in January, 1920 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. On Dec. 8, 1926, he married Helena K. Ahnemann in Walters. He lived and farmed in the Kiester and Bricelyn area all of his life. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School for 25 years and sang at many funerals and church services. He served on the Kiester Elevator Board and the Kiester Township Board. He used to play in the family band when he was young. He enjoyed reading, gardening and farming.

He is survived by three children: Owen D. (wife Lorraine) Obermeyer of Kiester, Eugene C. “Gus” (wife Sandy) Obermeyer of Bricelyn, and Catherine E. (husband John) Olson of Bricelyn; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren;

one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1995; his son, Wane Obermeyer, in 1995; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Obermeyer; and two grandchildren in infancy.

Memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Cemetery Fund.
