John Thomas Minehart, 63, Albert Lea

Funeral services for John Thomas Minehart of Albert Lea, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea. Father James Young

will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Minehart died Thursday evening at St. Johns Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. He was 63 years of age.

John was born July 6, 1941 in Albert Lea, the son of Charles and Viola (Buck) Minehart. He was a graduate of St. Theodore School and Albert Lea High School in 1959. He attended Austin Vo-Tec and graduated from the Tool and Die Program. He earned his commercial pilots and instructors license from the Albert Lea Airport.

John was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, and the Albert Lea Elks Club. He was employed by Streater Co. where he was an inspector in the metals shop. He was also a flight instructor at the Albert Lea Airport. John lived in Laredo, Texas for a few years where he flew charter flights and was an instructor on civilian contract with the US Air Force. After his disability, John worked part time for Rofshus Precision Machine in Albert Lea.

In his free time, John enjoyed airplanes, hunting and fishing, camping, boxing and anything Nascar.

John is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Niles and nephew Mark Minehart.
