LaVonne Evelyn Griese, 77, Austin

LaVonne Evelyn Griese, age 77 of Austin, died Wednesday afternoon, July 7, 2004 at the Austin Medical Center.

She was born July 3, 1927, in Grand Meadow,

the daughter of Otto and Hazel (Means) Lomholt. She attended school in Lyle. On July 14, 1945, she was united in marriage to Donald E. Griese at the parsonage of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. They made their home in Austin their entire marriage. She was member of T.O.P.S. #1417 for several years, cashier at the Eagles Club, treasurer of the Hoof Beat Saddle Club and loved to camp. She was a member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, rural Austin. Donald died on January 17, 1995. LaVonne continued to live in Austin, entering Primrose on May 14, 2003.

Survivors include four children; Gloria (Terry) Branden of Albert Lea, Glenda (Wilbur) Josephson of Austin, Daryl (Betty) Griese of Austin and Diane (Roy) Jones of Austin, six grandchildren; Kristie (Jon) Luna, Tricia (John) Winter, Tracie Griese, Jason (Becky Vanderweerd) Jones, Jessica (Vilomar) Villar and Amy (Adam Westland) Branden, nine great-grandchildren; Joshua Thorson, Jacob Thorson, Lyndsie Griese, Brook Jones, Jonathan Jones, Emilee Jones, Michael Jones, Mickela Jones and Isabella Villar, four step-great-grandchildren; Haley and Kaleb Vanderweerd, Jason and Jessica Luna, four sisters; LaRena (Ivan) Bartholomew of Austin, LaRayne (Robert) Jochumsen of Austin, LaRaye Anderson of Albert Lea and LaFerne (Kenneth) Mangan of Rochester and many other relatives and friends.

Her parents, husband, Donald on January 17, 1995, a sister, LaDonna Lomholt and a brother, LaVerne Lomholt, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 10, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kris Wee officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Worlein Funeral Home on Friday, July, 9th from 4 to 7 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
