Robert &uot;Bob&uot; Ray Daseke, age 51, of 1417 South Carolina, Mason City, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126-3rd Street NE, Mason City, with Rev. Jo Frahm Watkins of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City officiating.
Following the services he will be cremated. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, and one hour prior to service time on Saturday at the chapel.
The family of Robert &uot;Bob&uot; Ray Daseke has requested that memorial contributions be directed to the family in his memory.
Robert Ray Daseke was born on Sept. 29, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Don and Eilene (Himes) Klenk. He attended elementary school in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Amana High School. Bob also attended and graduated from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with an Associate of Arts degree in human service. He attended Buena Vista College and would have graduated in December 2005 with a major in human services and a minor in psychology. After completing his schooling he worked in the field of chemical dependency for eight years in Cedar Rapids, Monticello, Prairie Ridge in Mason City and Fountain Center in Albert Lea, MN. Bob also worked at the Unitarian Church in Cedar Rapids from 1985 until 1994. The family moved to Mason City in 1998.
He was united in marriage to Linda Stoakes on Aug. 24, 1985, in Cedar Rapids.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, working on computers, riding his jet ski and visiting with his many friends, but his great love and enjoyment was his family.
He was a member of A.A. in Mason City, and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda Daseke of Mason City; a daughter, Meggan Daseke and her fianc Jason Powell of Mason City; his parents: Don &uot;Gene&uot; and Eilene Klenk of Middle Amana, Iowa; two sisters: Pam Kelly and her husband Mike of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Laurie Ballard and her husband Bill of Watkins, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Neta Stoakes of Clear Lake, Iowa; sister-in-law, Kathy Stoakes of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother-in-law, David Stoakes and his wife Jackie of Grinnell, Iowa; an uncle, Terry Heims of Cedar Rapids; as well as other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, Robert Ray Daseke; his maternal and paternal grandparents; an uncle, Dick Heims; and his father-in-law, Kenneth Stoakes.
