JORDAN &045; When it came to birdies, Kellen Kaasa was Mr. Automatic.

And he met a Vikings great in the process.

Kaasa, of Glenville, spent July 26 at the Matt Blair Celebrity Classic at Ridges Golf Course in Jordan. The tournament, hosted by former Minnesita Vikings linebacker Matt Blair, was a fundraiser for Minnesota Special Olympics.

Kaasa was stationed on hole 17. If the group coming through wanted, for a $10 donation to Special Olympics Kaasa would putt their ball. Whether he made it or not they were given a birdie on that hole.

More than 100 participants took part in the four-man, best-shot tournament. Corporations contributing included Northwest Airlines, S.C. Johnson, Best Buy, Great Clips and more. Silent auction items ranged from vacation packages to autographed sports memorabilia.

Kaasa will participate in the PGA National Invitational for Special Olympics in Beaumont, Cal., Sept. 17-21. His dad Tim will go as his coach and his brother Devin will go as his unified best shot partner.

Kaasa is employed at HyVee in Albert Lea.
