Elmer Eugene Jacobs, 80, Conger

Funeral services for Elmer E. Jacobs, age 80, of Conger, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Conger.
The Rev. Susan Wallager will officiate.
Interment will be in the Conger Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Sunday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Elmer died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester after struggling with cancer for 18 years.
Elmer Eugene Jacobs was born June 5, 1924, to Ed and Bertha (Jordan) Jacobs in Alden.
He attended school in Alden and worked on the family farm.
On June 24, 1947, Elmer was united in marriage to Juline Andersen in Alden.
The couple farmed in Freeborn County all their married life.
Elmer enjoyed yodeling and joking with his family, friends and young kids.
He had been a 4-H leader and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Elmer had a special companion that went everywhere with him: Puppy.
Survivors include his wife, Juline; sons, Larry Jacobs of Alden and his children: Chris Jacobs, Sally Anderson and her husband Tim, and Heidi Jacobs, and Lee Jacobs and his wife Karen of Alden and their children, Kary Jacobs and her fianc Justin and Matt Jacobs; four great-grandchildren: Trayton and Gavin Anderson, Logan Reicharts, and Makenna Jacobs; sisters: Anna Jahnke of Alexandria, Marie Jahnke of Albert Lea, Dorothy Newman and her husband Elmer of Albert Lea, and Delores Jacobs of Alden; brothers, Albert Jacobs and his wife Marjean of Alden and Donald Jacobs of Manchester; brother-in-law, Walter Newman of Albert Lea; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James and wife Dorothy Jacobs; his sister, Thelma Newman; brothers-in-law, Christian Jahnke and Albert Jahnke; and sister-in-law, Darlene Jacobs.
