Harold Lundquist, 89, Austin

Harold Arthur Lundquist, age 89, of Austin, died Monday Aug. 16, 2004, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

He was born July 25, 1916, in Owatonna, to Arthur and Emma (Tischer) Lundquist. Harold grew up in the Austin area and graduated from Austin High School in 1936. On Sept. 14, 1940, he married Norma Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. In 1978, he retired from Hormel Foods Corp. after 42 years of service. Harold enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, traveling across the United States, enjoyed dancing, playing golf, watching sports on television and loved working as a garage mechanic fixing small engines. Harold also belonged to the Elks, American Legion and the VFW. He served his country in the Navy during World War II.

Survivors include two sons: Lyman (Jane) Lundquist of Austin, Texas, and Larry (Pam) Lundquist of Maple Grove; three grandsons: Eric, Garrick and Lance; special friend, Hazel Chase of Austin; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one sister, Margie.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 20, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be one hour before the service. The Rev. Glenn Monson will be officiating. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice, Albert Lea Cancer Center, or St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.
