Paul Anthony Meyer, 63, Wells

Paul Anthony Meyer, age 63, of Wells, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at his home in Wells from complications of a heart transplant in 1989.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells today from 3
to 8 p., with a prayer service at 3 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells.
Paul Anthony Meyer was born Sept. 24, 1940, the son of George and Marcella (Felber) Meyer in Easton. Paul graduated from Wells-Easton High School, the class of 1958. He married Joan Niebuhr on Jan. 9, 1960, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. Paul enjoyed construction work in the off months of his primary job of farming. He held many offices in the Wells area.
He served as town board supervisor for many years, and the school board from 1982-1993. Paul was a member of the Wells Area Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Wells Lions Club.
He was currently serving as county commissioner since 1996. He was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. Paul enjoyed being with people and cooking breakfast for his family. He could usually be found at Wells Drug having coffee and shaking dice.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Wells; seven children: Julie and her husband Dan Treptow of Wells, Audrey Johnson of St. Anthony, Minn., Debra and her husband Mike Willmott of Farmington, Minn., Jamie and her husband Tim Neuhalfen of Blue Earth, Ken Meyer of Blaine, Minn., Mitchel and his wife Heidi Meyer of Hastings, and Elizabeth Meyer and her fiance Todd Hogen of Mankato; 12 grandchildren: Ryan and Kelsey Treptow; Tony Lockman, Jeramiah and Keith Johnson, Sarah, Nathan and Angelia Schull, Colton and Nichole Neuhalfen, and Cody Meyer and Paige Meyer; his mother, Marcella Bierman of Mankato; five brothers:
Irving (Cleone) Meyer of Lakeville, Minn., Sanford (Marlene) Meyer of Buffalo, Minn., Gene (Coralee) Meyer of Coon Rapids, Minn., Joe (Julie) Meyer of Arizona, Calvin (Kathy) Meyer of Omaha, Neb., one sister,
Ellen (Steve) Bowman of Mt. Zion, Ill.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Meyer, and stepfather, Robert Bierman.
