Albert Lea man charged in Austin murder

A 25-year-old Albert Lea man charged in the stabbing death of Robert Walker Jr., Austin, appeared in Mower County District Court Thursday, Sept. 16.
According to court documents, Tobias Telles fatally stabbed Walker in the abdomen after he allegedly got into an argument with him at The Bakery Lounge in downtown Austin Sept. 2.
The Austin-Mower County Law Enforcement Center received a cell telephone call telling of the stabbing and Walker’s body was found by police at 1:35 a.m. Sept. 3, in northwest Austin.
The body was found in the front yard of a home in the 600 block of Third Avenue NW across from Grinder’s Deli.
At Thursday’s appearance Telles requested an omnibus hearing, which was set for Oct. 7.
He is being charged by the State of Minnesota with murder in the second degree, which holds a maximum prison sentence of 40 years.
He was also ordered by the state to submit a sample of DNA.
