Beth Audrey Sorenson, 92, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Beth Audrey Sorenson will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Our Savior’s Cemetery, Kiester. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Beth died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 92 years old.

Beth was born in Minneapolis on April 4, 1912, the daughter of Charles A. and Amy Isabel (St. John) Barnes. She attended high school in Ellsworth, Minn., and was a 1934 graduate of Naeve Hospital School of Nursing, earning her RN degree.

On Sept. 18, 1937, Beth was united in marriage with Joseph D. Sorenson in Ellsworth. During their marriage they had lived in Northwood, Iowa, Kiester, Clear Lake, Iowa, Blue Earth and Albert Lea. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and had been active in circle and WELCA.

Beth was proud of her RN degree and worked at Albert Lea’s West Clinic until retiring at the age of 70. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of many bridge clubs. She was a people person and enjoyed spending time with her friends and being with her family.

Beth is survived by her daughter, Betty (Duane) Kapplinger of Kiester; three grandchildren: Kathleen (Marlin) Anderson of Kiester, Kim (Nolie) Kapplinger of Spring Grove, Minn., and Kent (Eunice) Kapplinger of Fargo, N.D.; six great-grandchildren: Mitchell (Becky) Anderson of Rochester, Paula (Gary) Hitterdal of Kasson, Annette Anderson of Rochester, Jill (Ty) Huber of Chicago, Ill., Jenny (Tyler) Clemmentson of St. Paul, and Jamie Kapplinger of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five great-great-grandchildren: Jordan and Elijah Anderson, Preston and Morgan Beth Hitterdal, and Isaiah Huber; one sister, Jean Davis of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe, in 1983; grandson, Timothy, in infancy; three sisters; and one brother.
