Funeral services for Gloria Verdel Grinolds, age 76, of Albert Lea, will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Gloria died on Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Gloria Verdel Grinolds was born on June 8, 1928, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Meyers) Swenson. She was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea, and a 1946 graduate of Albert Lea High School. On June 27, 1948, Gloria was united in marriage to Everett C. Grinolds at First Lutheran Church. She worked at various jobs including Stevenson’s Music, Buttreys, the Rivoli Theater, and the Big Four Bottling Company. Gloria also worked as a bookkeeper for the United Fund. She was very interested in antiques. She and her husband traveled to many antique shows and conventions, both before and after their retirement. Gloria was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was active in various groups. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the DOES, the Eagles, and was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Everett of Albert Lea; children: Randa and her husband Jim Simpson of Fairmont, and Charles E. Grinolds of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Jeff Simpson of Chaska, and Jennifer Simpson of Fairmont, sister-in-law, Marvelyn Grinolds of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
