Martha Egeness, age 92, of Bricelyn, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church in rural Bricelyn. The Rev. Pat Hinkie will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn on Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at North Blue Earth Lutheran Cemetery.

Martha was born on March 19, 1912 in Brush Creek Township, the daughter of Sievert and Anna (Legried) Thompson. She graduated from Blue Earth High School. On May 2, 1940, she married Arnold Egeness at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church. They lived on the home place for several years, and then moved to the family farm near Brush Creek where she resided until moving to the nursing home.

She was a lifelong member of North Blue Earth Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She served as Cradle Roll Secretary and taught Sunday School for many years. Martha enjoyed selling greeting cards and Watkins Products, and visiting with neighbors and friends.

One son survives her, Steven and his wife Sara Egeness of St. Cloud; one grandson, Stephen (wife Ingeborg) Egeness of Cold Spring, Minn.; two granddaughters: Susan (husband James) Kondrat of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Stacy Anne Egeness of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; two great-grandchildren:

Marshall and Cole Kondrat of Crystal Lake, ll.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1977; one brother, Oliver and his wife Frieda Thompson; one sister, Florence and her husband George Petersen; and several nieces and nephews.
