Verna Tysver, 78, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Verna Tysver, of Albert Lea, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Interment will be in Winnebago Cemetery, rural Lake Mills, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Verna died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 78 years old.

Verna was born March 20, 1926, to Nels and Agnes (Gulbrandson) Bergland in Lake Mills, Iowa. Verna was married to Ray Sickels; they had three children. Then later Verna married Raymond Miranda; they had five children, and then later married Milfred Tysver. Verna was a member of First Lutheran Church. She tended bar in California and Lake Mills, Iowa. Verna was a member of the Eagles. She enjoyed playing bingo.

Verna is survived by her children: Beverly Johnson, David Sickels, Ray Miranda and his wife Lynn of Manchester, Iowa, Ronald Miranda and his wife Penny of Northwood, Iowa, Mark Miranda and his wife Cindy of Albert Lea, and Marcine Miranda and her special friend Roy Westergaard of Albert Lea; three sisters: Nettie Thoreson of Lake Mills, Iowa, Norma Jean Hickman of Tennessee, and Thelma Hall of Albert Lea; one brother, Arden Bergland of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law: Margaret, Gladys and Pat Bergland; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend and nephew, Brian Fredrickson; Verna has 27 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Verna is preceded in death by her husband, Milfred; sons: Raymond Dean Sickels and Wayne Miranda; her parents; six brothers: Ole, Helmer, Truman, Johnnie and Marvin Bergland, and Wallace Bergland in infancy; sister, Wilma Flattum; and two grandsons.
