Funeral services for Virgetta R. King, age 65, of Albert Lea, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Virgetta died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Virgetta Rose King was born July 21, 1939, to Virgil and Blanche (Kelly) Bankes in Colfax, Iowa. On May 5, 1957, she was united in marriage to LuVern L. King in Nashua, Iowa. The couple moved to Albert Lea in 1972 where they owned and operated a janitorial service. Virgetta loved music, singing, and playing the organ and piano. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Albert Lea.
Survivors include her husband, LuVern of Albert Lea; son, Michael King and his wife Lynni of St. Paul; daughter, Michelle King of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Samuel Michael King and Sydney Lyn King of
St. Paul; mother, Blanche Bankes; brother, Jack Bankes and his wife Liz; brothers-in-law: Don King and his wife Diann, and Darrell King and his wife Marie; sisters-in-law: Iona Rydmark and her husband
Charles, and Joann Cromwell and her husband Donly; and nieces and nephews.
Virgetta was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Bankes.
