Harry J. Chance, 78, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Harry J. Chance, age 78, of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 11, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Scholz will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County servicemen’s organizations. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at Bayview.

Harry died Friday, October 8, 2004, at his home in Albert Lea.

Harry Jack Chance was born May 12, 1926, to Cyrus V. and Genevieve (Bradley) Chance in Iowa City, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. On June 10, 1950, Harry was united in marriage to Betty Ann Ristow in Stoddard, Wis. The couple moved to Albert Lea in 1954. Harry was employed as a Lineman for the Dairyland Power Company until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, golf, and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of Albert Lea; children: Sheila Chance of South Carolina, Karen and her husband, Lanny Saumer of Wis., David and his wife, Cindy Chance of Ariz., and Darrel and his wife, Leslie Chance of Calif.; grandchildren: Brandon, Darren, Wade, Shane, Wesley, Travis, Clint, Sarah, Corey, Jackie, Eli, and Nicole; great-grandchildren: Christian, Zane, Jonathon, Brooklyn, and Holly; and two

brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus and Genevieve Chance and granddaughter, Stacia Saumer in infancy.
