Funeral services for Harry P. Christensen, age 91, of Ellendale, will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. Rev. Arne Halbakken will officiate. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the Church. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Harry died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at the New Richland Care Center.

Harry Peter Christensen was born July 14, 1913, to P. C. J. and Mary (Nelsen) Christensen in Albert Lea. On Nov. 28, 1935, he was united in marriage to Fern M. Hanson in Hampton, Iowa. The couple farmed for a number of years before moving to Ellendale where Harry worked at the elevator and then opened his own service station. Harry was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ellendale and had been the Ellendale Fire Chief. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and family gatherings.

Survivors include his children: Lola and her husband Wes Hanson of Brooklyn Park, Phyllis and her husband Lawrence Becker of Albert Lea, Ronald and his wife Darlene Christensen of Lincoln, Neb., Beverly and her husband Wayne Rietema of Kanawha, Iowa, Susan and her husband Terry Jensen of Albert Lea, and Nancy and her husband Roy Branton of Poynette, Wis.; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Harriet and her husband Oscar Seerup of Dwight, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fern; grandson, Jimmy Bartness; sisters: Ann and her husband Rob Hanson, Gladys and her husband Harold Jensen, Elna and her husband Ray Ackland, and Marian and her husband Arlo Jakobson; and a niece and two nephews.
