James A. Nielsen, 74, Hammond, Indiana

James A. Nielsen, age 74, of Hammond, Ind., passed away on Wednesday,
Oct. 27, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Nielsen was born on June 13, 1930, in Albert Lea, to John and Mehta (Wolter) Nielsen.
He is survived by three daughters: Emma Nielsen and Jennifer (Patrick) Feeney both of Hammond, Ind., and Catherine Nielsen of Vienna, Austria; one son, James (Elena) Nielsen of Highland, Ind.; one grandson, Aidan Feeney; one brother, John (Elizabeth) Nielsen of Blair, Neb.; two sisters: Eleanor (Donald) Schou of Albert Lea, and Margaret (William) Rodenburg of Centerville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Christine, on Nov. 25, 2003.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Oct. 30, at 10
a.m. directly from St. Catherine of Siena Church, Hessville, with
Rev. Larry Kew, officiating. Burial to follow at St. John-St. Joseph Catholic Cemeteries, Hammond, Ind. Friends are invited to meet with the family directly at the church on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mr. Nielsen was a U.S. Army veteran having been discharged in 1961.
He retired in 1997 from Eaglebrook after 18 years of service as a comptroller.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church.
He was a resident of the Calumet, area for 31 years.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund Is being established in favor of St. Anthony Hospice.
