ST. CLOUD &045; Les Etienne, a resident of Albert Lea, was recently inducted into the St. Cloud State University Athletic Hall of Fame along with his teammates on the 1961-62 SCSU men’s hockey team.

The 1961-62 SCSU team posted an 11-0 record under the coaching of the late Jerry Wink and it remains the only unbeaten squad in school history.

The team played at a time when they, as players and coaches, had to prepare the ice themselves for practices and games. They dressed in Eastman Hall and played on an outdoor rink on the south end of Halenbeck Hall. According to the 1962 &uot;Talahi,&uot; &uot;Led by Skeeter Hawkinson and Ed Noble, the Huskies virtually ran over every opponent they faced and defeated Bemidji State, one of the powers in the state.&uot;
