MINNEAPOLIS (AP) &045; Kevin Garnett wouldn’t listen when his coach told him to rest his sore right knee Wednesday night, so Sam Cassell hid his uniform.
Garnett and most other regulars missed the preseason game, in which Maurice Williams hit a jumper with one second left to cap an 11-point performance and lead the Milwaukee Bucks over the Minnesota Timberwolves 76-75.
Garnett, who has not missed a regular-season game due to injury since April 18, 2001, was &uot;tired and sore&uot; according to coach Flip Saunders.
&uot;He said, ‘you know I don’t like to sit,&uot;’ Saunders said of his pregame discussion with Garnett.
&uot;He’ll never sit himself, but I thought it was best not to take a chance.&uot;
That’s when Cassell decided to take matters into his own hands.
&uot;He looked at me crazy and said some words little children shouldn’t hear,&uot; said Cassell about taking the uniform. &uot;Kevin’s such a competitor.&uot;
