Funeral services for Dale E. Jones, age 79, of Albert Lea, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Ascension Lutheran Church. Rev. Richard Spande will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Dale died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Dale Eugene Jones was born May 21, 1925, to William and Myrtle (York) Jones in Mason City, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Albert Lea. Dale served in the United States Navy during World War II. On June 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to Josephine Helleck in Seattle, Wash. Dale was employed at Wilson & Company for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and a former member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. Dale enjoyed traveling, hunting, and spending time with his family. The couple often spent winters in Arizona after his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine of Albert Lea; children: Gail and her husband Ron Rhea of Byhalia, Miss., Carol and her husband Ernie Schultz of Alden, Jeff and his wife Donna Jones of Chaska, Marge and her husband Bill Entorf of Albert Lea, Michael and his wife Cindy Jones of Brownsdale, and Steven and his wife Carol Jones of Joliet, Ill.; son-in-law, Tom O’Byrne of Albert Lea; 16 grandchildren and step grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Jones of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Leona Jordahl of Owatonna; and several nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janet O’Byrne; great-grandson, Makiao; brother, Ray; and sister, Geil.
